“Love Trumps Fear”

This Series of Messages Continues Sunday Morning at 11 AM EDST…

Ever find something from the past and get excited about it? There’s nothing better than to find something that was very important to you, but you had misplaced or lost it.  It happened to me a few weeks ago.

I was going through some old papers of mine from many years ago.  These papers held notes to a message I’d prepared over two decades ago.  In those notes, I found the following words that I had written…

“Faith makes even the most fearful event conquerable; for when faith is expressed, God accomplishes two great feats of victory.  First, He always carries us through, and second, He always defeats our fearful enemy filling us with more trust in Him.”

This is particularly significant given the path we’re on in our Sunday morning message series, Love Trumps Fear.  In two days I’ll be teaching on the following verse…

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.”
1 John 4:18 NASB

Those words describe well where we’ve been these far in this series of messages.  And God’s provided it all freely to those who trust in Christ’s finished work on the cross!

Because of Christ, we are free of the fear of God’s judgment and condemnation both now and in eternity!  Christ has done it all for us, and He alone is to be praised!

Plus, our love can grow in fuller and fuller expression as we lean into God through Christ.  Abiding – remaining or staying – in God and in His love, brings our weak human love to its fullest expression as we follow Christ’s example!

We do indeed have a Great God, full of amazing grace, and a Savior who’s done it all!

Praise Him,

Pastor Mark
